Testing

climatic test

Made to simulate rapid temperature shifts due to transportations or to accumulate damage with the use of sophisticated failure algorithms they can predict the behavior of the system and therefore its reliability after several cycles of usage. They can be performed on the entire battery pack on the modules or on other power electronic components such as the inverter or the electric motor. They can be customized based on the duty cycles of the device under test.

  • Accelerated durability

  • Transportation safety

  • Low/High temperature performances

  • High humidity performances

mechanical test

Most of them are regulated under the UN38.3, standard for marine, air and wheel transportation or in the R100 for automotive applications. They have the purpose of understanding the behavior of the enclosure of battery packs, modules or other parts under specific mechanical stresses. They can be repetitive with the aim of accumulating a damage or not as it happens in crash or drop tests. The components can be tested with:

  • Vibrational profiles (random or sinusoidal)

  • Shocks

  • Drop

  • Crash

  • Nailing

performance,
safety and missuse

Tailored on the application of the component under test. They can simulate different mechanical or electrical loading conditions based on the customer requirements. For electric motors examples are:

  • Overspeed

  • Overtemperature

For battery packs or modules
  • Internal short circuits

  • Over charge or over discharge

Specific working cycles can be analyzed for the battery packs or the electric motors in order to evaluate the rated power or capacity, operating temperatures, or other variables useful for the fine tuning of the power train control system.

solid-fluid intrusion

Usually those tests have a relevant role in those applications where the environmental stresses are severe such as marine, automotive or earth moving.

Divided in 4 different areas:
  • Dust intrusion

  • Water or steam intrusion

  • Salt water or fog immersion

  • Chemical exposure

Made to provide an accurate forecast of the effect of corrosion, validate the sealing or predict the behavior of components in contact with different fluids.
